I want to be able to use Autodesk Sheet Set Manager on my project which is located in a Projectwise datasource.
Does anyone have any information on how to accomplish this without having to export the entire project to a location outside of PW?

Hi All.
We are currently working towards upgrading PW from V8i to Connect but we are facing some challenges rationalizing the different versions. What are the functional differences between Connect Update 1 and Connect Update 3 as it relates to Office 365? Alternatively, what Office 365/2016 functionality would be hampered if we only upgrade PW to Connect Update 1?
Our issue is that we are also doing an OpenPlant upgrade and a decision has been made to move to v8i SS6, which per the compatibility matrix is only compatible with PW Connect Update 1, and that is only compatible with Office 2013/365. Our enterprise is moving to Office 2016/365. What would the impacts be?
Thanks in advance for any help anybody can give.

Hello Bentley Community,
Does anyone know if Silent Install Parameters are supported for the installation of ProjectWise Edge? I see that there are a few check boxes with the manual install. Log File doesn't seem to help much. So far, I have tried:
pwed05052214en.exe /q
pwed05052214en.exe InstallDirectory=C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise Edge\ InstallDesktopShortcut=1 /q
Both of the above seem to install ProjectWise Edge somewhere other than the default location, C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProjectWise Edge...OR, Windows is fooled into thinking that the product is installed (running a manual uninstall zips through too quickly).
If this is not currently supported, let's hope future versions will be. Manually installing this onto many computers doesn't seem so efficient.
Many thanks in advance!
Matt
I have been using Windows live mail to receive my emails. All the downloaded emails are in eml format.
Now i want to configure my mailbox in Outlook 2010 but the mailbox export tool in windows live mail doesn't export the header information.
Is there any way i move my eml message to outlook 2010 msg format with complete header information?
Hello,
We are using the CONNECT edition and with Tag sets being replaced with Item Types when you use the upgrade Tag Set under the Item Sets > Utilities section will the new item sets retain the Projectwise attribute exchange?
We are using Tag sets within a Cell for the Drawing Borders and the information that populates these comes from Projectwise. Will this still be the case if I upgrade them? As a test I upgraded a Tag set and noticed that these now become fields - can I use Projectwise Administrator to populate fields from Projectwise?
I'm having a similar issue with the fields within the Detail/Section/Plan Bubbles when placing DV's I cannot get the fields to display the drawing number's correctly - Can i add an attribute to the design file that is populated from Projectwise that the field within the bubble can read?
If the upgrade utility will NOT retain the attribute exchange I will have to continue to use the existing Tag Sets. Is there another way of Item types being populated from Projectwise? i.e. Can I create Custom attributes in the Design File properties (General, Extended, Statistics, Workset properties etc -using an XML) that could be populated from Projectwise and then have the fields editor read them from there?
If projectwise is the source of data for drawing Numbers do you know of a way to integrate this with the field within the detail bubble on the DV call outs?
I have been through the Microstation CONNECT edition for CAD managers : Design, Drawing and Sheet Composition but there is nothing regarding Projectwise Attribute exchange.
Many Thanks
Peter
So here's my current situation. I currently have access to a client's Dropbox files and they download to my local hard drive. The problem with this is that the project directory takes up my personal hard drive space. What I want to do is put together an external server that utilizes a management software of some sort (PW) that will one, allow me to download the Dropbox files to the server and have them push the changes back up to the cloud as usual, but, also be able to add clients with other configurations, including being able to log into the other client's Projectwise accounts.
So, I'm looking for an umbrella software that allows access to all platforms for both hosting and client-side access to other hosts. Does PW handle this kind of thing? Did this even make sense?

Is there any way to automatically determine / look up a ProjectWise filepath, based on the folder ID?
For instance...when I am working with a specific file from ProjectWise, the local working directory is:
C:\bms\xxx-xxxxxx-xxx\XXXXXX.XXXXXXX\dms17393
And in the ProjectWise Explorer, that specific file is stored in the following folder:
pw:\\XXXXXXX-pw.bentley.com:XXXXXXX-pw-xx\Documents\01_XX Projects\1592-19\Design\800 Structures\Standard Electrical Detail Analysis\Phase 2\Luminaires\
So when I print that file out (let's assume it's an Excel file that has the path in the header), it prints out the local path with the folder ID. And for someone else to find that file (using the print for reference), they need to search for the folder ID.
Is there a way that I can get the filepath to show the ProjectWise Explorer path instead of the folder ID?
i.e.: is there a local file on my computer (that I can access) that relates a folder ID to a ProjectWise folder path?
Hi,
We have over that last 3-4 month been in the process of moving our data from a file server to Projectwise.
Some of our users are frequently using Adobe Pro to gather all kinds of documents into a single document. We have discovered that aren't any integration between Projectwise and the Adobe Suite. That makes it quite awkward to use Adobe Pro in conjunction with Projectwise. Document has to be exported out from Projectwise to be merged into a single document and then the final document has to be created in Projectwise in the end.
Our users are quite happy about Adobe Pro, so they will prefer using this software, but are there other applications that can solve this? Another question that is obvious; Does Bentley work with a solution where Projectwise will be integrated with the Adobe Suite.
Kind Regards
Ole Bro
IS there an ERD for the Projectwise Database?
I am sure there is abut where can i find it.
If I edit a folder or project description are there ramifications to file paths?
Good day all.
Can somebody please help me understand what the audit trail record type "document given out", action code 1011, means? How does it differ from the other document related activities that can be logged?
For some reason we have a huge number of audit records identifying this action. We are trying to understand the definition of this action.
Thanks

Our Bentley hosted ProjectWise server was recently upgraded to 10.0.3.140 and ever since many of our PWDI user have been getting the error mentioned in the title. It mostly occurs when a user attempts to check in a file. The files can be manually checked in via PW client but the error is proving to be a source of inconvenience and concern.
Is there anything I should try?
All solutions I have read about so far seems to require more access than we are allowed.
I have already filed a service ticket and am still awaiting a response.
Hi,
I am stuck with the below issue while using ProjectWise SDK for fetching documents. Any solution or pointers would be really helpful.
I am fetching documents from a given project using aaApi_SelectDocumentsByProp method call. I then extract few details of documents and pass it to another function. The below code works fine in my machine, however, the same code fails in customer's machine and the log file gives following details :
"ProjectWise returned the following. No database connection is active at the moment.; No database connection is active at the moment.; Error code:50045"
One of our customers is getting the below error while attempting to get document details. The same code works fine in development machine.
Can you please let me know if there is anything that could go wrong with the below code:
int count = PwDotNet.aaApi_SelectDocumentsByProp( (int)projectId, 0, (int)PwDotNet.DOCUMENT_FILE_TYPE_Flags.AADMS_FTYPE_TEXT, (int)PwDotNet.DOCUMENT_TYPE_FLAGS.AADMS_ITYPE, applicationId, 0, null, null, null, null, 0, 0, 0, 0, null, 0, 0); if (count == -1) { var error = GetLastErrorCompleteDetails(); throw new ArgumentNullException("Error selecting the documents: " + error); } var bufferSize = 512; var workingFile = new StringBuilder(bufferSize, bufferSize); var downloadedDocumentPath = string.Empty; var documentId = 0; for (int index = 0; index < count; index++) { downloadedDocumentPath = string.Empty; documentId = PwDotNet.aaApi_GetDocumentId(index); if (documentId == 0) { // The execution fails here. The error description is // No database connection is active at the moment.; No database connection is active at the moment.; Error code:50045 var error = GetLastErrorCompleteDetails(); continue; } var documentObject = PwDotNet.aaApi_SelectDocument(projectId, (long) documentId); string documentName = Marshal.PtrToStringUni(PwDotNet.aaApi_GetDocumentStringProperty(20, index)); int fileSize = PwDotNet.aaApi_GetDocumentNumericProperty(7, (int)documentId); string lastModifiedTimeAsString = Marshal.PtrToStringUni(PwDotNet.aaApi_GetDocumentStringProperty(25, index)); }
When user is trying to send the document using the send to option in projectwise , nothing is happening
document is not loading automatically in out look
* Out look 2013 is installed
* c/windows/win.ini settings are ok
* could able to locate mapi32.dll files also ( i do not know , if something is wrong with it )
so please can you give advice or the solution how to resolve this issue ??
Thanks & regards,

Does anyone know whether this Bentley provided tool (least for us about 10 years ago) has a CONNECT compatible version of the MA/DLL? The MA won't load into MicroStation connect.
I'd even settle for a way to access the DLL functions with VBA if anyone has insight on that
I tried submitting/asking Bentley Support, but not sure anyone is checking that inbox anymore.
Thank you in advance,
Stephan
The user has been removed from the security group. After daily sync runs the user has to be disabled from projectwise.
But still the user account is not disabled. Can someone help us on this
Good day all.
I have approximately 12 million logon/logoff audit table records to truncate, moving from dms_audt to a secondary table. How efficient is the archive/truncate process? What is an optimal number of records to set to archive at a given time such that the integration server is not bogged down? I understand that it is better to do this after hours but even so we don't want this process to take over all of the resources in the event somebody is working after hours.
Does anybody have any recommendations from their experience?
Thanks
Len.
Hi Communities,
I am often trying to send links to files on ProjectWise between colleagues via email, however we are having an issue opening them. This is the error that I receive.
This is also the same for OneNote.
Curiously, if I am to copy the link to word, the link works and opens in ProjectWise, but this isn't ideal. I'm currently using ProjectWise Version 10.00.03.140
Is there a way to get the links to work or is this in issue with this version of ProjectWise?
Thanks
Oliver
